Belmont County Prosecuting Attorney

Civil Division

The Civil Division of the Prosecutor’s Office serves public sector clients, similar to the way a law firm would represent private clients. Ohio Revised Code Section 309.09 provides for the prosecuting attorney to be the legal advisor to all county officials, townships, and agencies. Our Civil Division advises our clients on legal matters, such as contract law, employment, property, tax foreclosures, zoning and land use, and other administrative issues. In addition, we represent those officials, boards, and agencies when they are parties to a lawsuit, whether as a plaintiff or a defendant. That includes representation in state and federal courts, as well some administrative settings.
